Generation to Generation
A special project of the AMITAI Foundation, the G2G Project is a special fellowship aimed at enriching the field of cross-generational learning, in particular between the most senior generation and upcoming leaders in their 20's and 30's. The fellowship project is being developed in partnership with leaders in the field from the academic, business, and civic sectors. The prestigious fellowship will be launched in October 2010. More information about the fellowship, and the application process, can be found below.
G2G Project Fellowship
Unleashing the Power of Cross-Generational Learning
Summary
Seen through the frame of classical Jewish learning, wisdom is the outcome of rich life experience, growing deeper with each passing year of insight and reflection. With wisdom comes great responsibility, chiefly the commandment to pass learning to the youth. Yet, in recent years, the opportunity for the next generation of Jewish Communal leadership to learn from those of the previous generations, has receded. Challenged by the speeding pace of technological revolution, and an ever more noisy world that would be unrecognizable fifty years ago, the younger and the older often find pathways to meaningful cross-generational learning blocked.
Recognizing this growing generational divide, G2G seeks to build a new vehicle for relationship forming among leaders from both generations, creating a learning relationship that will deeply impact and inspire a new generation of leadership, while maintaining and growing the traditions of the previous generation.
Structured as a yearlong leadership fellowship, G2G will a) select two promising young leaders spending the year in Israel, from a broader pool of applicants, and b) , select two mentors from the elder generation who will complete the cross-generational mentorship pairs. The selected fellows will participate in a guided, curriculum based experience over an eight month aimed at establishing a learning bond between the fellow and mentor. Upon conclusion of the fellowship, the fellows and mentors will be asked to participate in an annual meeting that will take place remotely or in person, with the aim of preserving the long-term relationships established during the fellowship.
